Giro d’Intrinsic 2015 – Venice to Verona

A round of applause goes to Ian & Mark who have just returned from an exhausting 3 day, 300km cycle ride raising money for The Samaritans. They joined 42 other riders who rode from Venice to Verona following the foothills of the Dolomites. Todate the group has raised an amazing £100,000!

Heres a brief summary of their trip:

Day 1 – Venice to Vittorio Veneto – 100km – 600m climbing

Our first day of riding headed North, across the Venetian plain before tackling some very challenging terrain towards the end of the day. We rode through sleepy Italian villages and sampled some delicious homemade gelato. Before crossing the impressive Piave river.

Day 2 – Vittorio Veneto to Bassano del Grappa – 85km – 1600m climbing

Today was the hilliest day of the tour as we meandered through the undulating hills of the Prosecco region, famous for its delicious sparkling wine. We enjoyed some swooping descents as we rolled past rustic farmhouses and lush vines. Highlight was a very enjoyable lunch at a cafe in the impressive main square of Valdobiadene.

Stage 3 – Bassano del Grappa to Verona – 107km – 1000m climbing

The final day of riding was mostly on the flat, giving us the opportunity to get a good speed up. The flat roads were punctuated in the middle with some climbing. We continued to trace the foothills of the Dolomites as we headed South-west towards our final destination in Verona.
